The best dinner party
Last night I had a dream come true. My longest friend made an effort to come see me in Santa Fe. My closest friend also lives here and they got to meet. I made a party and brought out the good plates and put the leaf in the table. How do I make it special if you are having dinner with us? I get out the nice plates, cloth napkins, fresh cut flowers and focus on the food. Folks were hungry and I made a crowd pleaser lasagna, I have made it before. There were toasts and raves around the table about the food. I bought super good bread from Bread Shop in Santa Fe and had lots of butter out that was the exact right consistency. I just read in my stream of streams that it is better to use salted butter for everything. And they said make toast and taste it with unsalted and salted and you will be over the moon re: how much better the salted tastes. I disagree. Last nights butter on bread rocked because of that slightly sour unsalted butter taste. What do you think?
I am going to send each guest a thank you via mail for witnessing my delight and include a paper copy of the recipe I made. It is important to make the right sauce for this, I will include this recipe in the thank you cards too. If you are stopped by a NYT paywall please email me and I will send you the recipes via snail mail!
