Princess Rose Bushes in San Francisco and The Recipe I Have Made the Most

Did you know in San Francisco in the before times it was common to give a Princess Rose Bush to your wife for an anniversary present? And now there are many of them, each spring I take pictures of their glory and imagine their planting! With all the rains ones that never gave many blooms are resplendent.

And here is the recipe I have made the most. It is from Ken Hom. My friend Steve Siegelman turned me onto him many years ago.

Baked Curried Chicken Thighs

  • 2 pounds Chicken Thighs
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp rice wine
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Remove the skin from the thighs. Place the thighs in a roasting pan. (I use a cookie sheet with parchment) Combine the sauce ingredients, add to the chicken and mix thoroughly, making sure the thighs are completely coated. Bake the thighs for 15 minutes. Turn them over and continue to cook for 15 minutes more. Serve at once. Yum
